Relax

At Bloomington-98th Chiropractic, we take our time to treat each individual case and strive to get your body as relaxed as possible before any adjustment. We will use therapies appropriate to your unique body - including a combined hand and electronic massage, heat therapy, and ultrasound, traction and/or acupuncture. A typical appointment of 40-60 minutes will allow your body to fully relax before the adjustment and you will leave feeling rested, refreshed, and aligned.

Recover

We use nutrition, sports medicine, and exercise science to guide you in your own recovery. Each patient will be given tools for self-healing including an in-depth understanding of how all aspects of your life work together and when working properly will heal your body.

Research

As an added bonus, our patients will benefit from our own research into nutrition and plant nutrients.

At Bloomington - 98th Chiropractic, we treat the whole person. We use chiropractic care to treat your spine and improve nerve function. We also work with each patient to find the best strategy to reduce stress, manage pain, prevent injuries, and improve sleep through physical activity, nutrition, and relaxing treatments. Each patient is treated like family and will leave feeling relaxed, refreshed, and inspired with ideas on how to care for your own body with adequate nutrition, physical activity, and sleep.

  • How is chiropractic practiced here?
  • We understand that the most effective adjustments occur when your back is completely relaxed. We offer several therapies of moist heat, ultrasound, massage, traction and acupuncture before the adjustment. This adjustment is the traditional form of spinal correction that releases a sense of calm and agility and does not hurt. The more relaxed and flexible your spine is, the more it will improve after the adjustment. The post-treatment benefit can be enhanced when followed by extra sleep and exercise.

  • Our philosophy
  • Chiropractors are trained in chiropractic adjustments as well as nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle to work with each individual to maximize healing. Through this partnership, you will learn about your own body's healing potential and the latest research on healing. Chiropractic care assists your body in safely healing itself without the use of drugs or surgery.

  • What do our patients think?
  • I have been seeing Dr. Boeckman since I was a child. I am now in my 30s and have moved from Minnesota. I have had a difficult time finding a chiropractor that gives as good of an adjustment or takes as much time with me since my move. Any time I go back to the Midwest I make an appointment to see Dr. Boeckman. I always appreciate the feeling of relaxation and alignment that I get when I visit him. He takes time to not only fix what is bothering me, but goes to the root of the problem.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Boeckman for many years – I can’t remember how long, but my husband was a patient of his before I was, so I think it was at least back in the early 90’s. It’s so interesting that people’s “stories” about Dr. Boeckman’s care are being collected, because I’ve often thought that I would like to let people know just how wonderful it is to enter his clinic and be treated in a setting of knowledge about the condition I needed to be addressed, but also a setting of care, concern and relaxation… From the various preparation “therapies” like ultrasound, massage and traction to the actual adjustment, I’ve been made to feel like Dr. Boeckman and his wife, Jane, were really interested in me and my welfare!!

My back problems stem from scoliosis, complicated by injuries from an auto accident, so I need to have continued treatments from time to time. If I have a certain “symptom” or pain in my back or legs, Dr. Boeckman listens and addresses the issue with proper treatment. He continues treatment until the desired outcome happens, and then I’m on my own to do the exercises that he has recommended. I’ve been in several other Chiropractic clinics…. the ones that hurry you in and out. It’s not like that with Dr. Boeckman. He cares enough to treat the current challenge, but gives time to understanding it and helping me understand how to best manage my health. I would recommend Dr. Boeckman and his wife Jane to anyone. From a satisfied, returning patient…

My lower back problems started gradually and got worse with time. Doctors stated the pain is caused by a narrowing spine where the spinal cord is located. When I first saw Dr. Boeckman, the pain was very intense. I could barely walk a block and was taking pain medication as often as possible. The back pain was very sharp, especially after walking or bending over. There was also a burning sensation at times. The pain was felt almost all the time when standing and would only be relieved by being on my back resting. The pain at times was extreme and then would subside when not standing. My doctor sent me to physical therapy. After three sessions, I was told that there was basically nothing else that they could do for me. I tried staying off my feet as much as possible and had friends helping me with some physical tasks, i.e. shoveling my driveway etc. I was feeling very low and was starting to lose hope.

I had never been to a chiropractor before and had only heard things from friends and family who had found help through their experiences. Frankly, I did not know what to expect. After a few sessions with Dr. Boeckman I could feel a lessening of the back pain. The therapy was working and I felt better each time I went. At first, I could not believe that it was helping. But I finally got to the point where I was working outside and walking with very little to no pain. I cannot believe that my back pain is this manageable! I found relief when the physical therapist told me that there was nothing else that they could do for me. I am so thankful! I was amazed at how quickly Dr. Boeckman diagnosed the problem and immediately started to lessen the pain. I did not know how much he could help me and to what extent! There is hope in things other than your medical doctor.

Dr. Boeckman has worked with me and continues to do so in a way that let's me live a normal life. When needed, I return for more therapy and this allows to me do the things that I want to. I have been able to identify what causes the back pain and work through the issues. I know when to rest and what to do to help myself when the pain starts returning. I have received heat treatment, acupuncture and spine adjustments. All have helped immensely. My visits include regular spinal adjustments. These adjustments of my lower and upper spine are completed quickly and are relaxing in nature. I have learned that I can do many more things to help my own situation. I have learned the importance of getting good sleep and building the core of my body, which will better support my overall health.

I strongly recommend that you visit Dr. Boeckman. My back pain had left me with almost no ability to even walk a block. I am now working in my yard and have completed building a new fence at my home. I can also walk without worrying that my back pain will return right away. When I do feel pain, I know what to do to help myself alleviate and manage it. Although I had never visited a chiropractor before, I now know the value of what they do!

I was referred to Dr. Boeckman when I was about 5 months pregnant with my second child. I have always had lower back problems and have seen a chiropractor since I was 16 years old. During my first pregnancy I was not able to be treated and was miserable. I liked Dr. Boeckman immediately. He truly cares about your well being and wants to cure your pain as soon as possible and wants to help you maintain good health. I have and continue to recommend Dr. Boeckman. He is knowledgeable, caring, sensitive and totally down to earth. He is not only my doctor and caregiver, but also a friend now for 6 years. Maria -

Dear Dr. Boeckman, Thank you for the many years of successful chiropractic you have done for me, and many friends whom I have recommended. You have, in the last thirty years, never let me down. I have always had 100% positive results from my visits to your office, and I easily recommend you. Early on, I had summer allergies, and between the adjustments, the b-vitamin/mineral/diet/exercise therapies, I was cured, and have 99% remained so. Currently, I am fine. On average, I come in only maybe once per year. I may not show up for three years. It's always the same lower back injury, and with one or two treatments, I am, at 57 years old, back on the tennis courts, back in my truck doing kitchens and bathrooms. The Boeckmans are the best. They are highly qualified, ethical, fastidious practitioners of a truly remarkable craft.

I came to Dr. Boeckman’s office at the advice of my husband after suffering with persistent, sharp pain in my right shoulder for 2 months. I had already worked with a physical therapist, which had not helped very much. I had also seen an orthopedist who advised more physical therapy, future cortisone shots and potential surgery for what he diagnosed as bursitis. In more pain than before, on Christmas Eve day, I saw Dr. Boeckman. After 2 hours of traction, ultrasound, manipulation and acupuncture, I felt a bit better. Within 2 months of treatment, I now have full range of motion and, most days, no pain at all! When I do have pain, it is so slight that I hardly notice it.

Dr. Boeckman is a practitioner who does not seem to have a “cookie-cutter” approach to treatment, which was not my experience with the one other chiropractor I saw many years ago. Every time I enter his office, he listens to how I feel that day and treats me accordingly. I never feel rushed in his office and always feel comfortable, no matter how many other patients are there. Thank you Dr. Boeckman! I guess the best compliment that I can give you is that I no longer feel I need you anymore. Yet, I won’t hesitate to call on you if I am ever in pain again!

We have been patients of Dr. Boeckman's for over twenty years. We have received excellent chiropractic care and nutritional advice over the years. The professionalism and care given increased our knowledge of how to better take care of ourselves physically and nutritionally. During a bout with breast cancer the extra time and care given helped me through the effects of chemo and radiation. We feel his help with acupuncture, massages, ultrasound, and chiropractic skills helped lessen my neuropathy. We learned about natural foods that helped me make a faster recovery, and enabled me to return to work full time much sooner than expected. Also, he is able to relieve our headaches, tension and back pain we experience with one or two treatments.

I have been a patient of Dr. Boeckman’s for more than 30 years. I first started going for low back problems then headaches and arthritis. He helped me with these conditions plus coached me into taking better care of my body. Dr. Boeckman, assisted by his wife Jane, are down to earth relaxing people. Every appointment is one on one. I really enjoy the ultra sound and vibrator that are used on my upper and lower back prior to manipulation. Both my husband and I are avid golfers and in order to keep our swing in top-notch condition we see Dr. Boeckman once a month. I know when my spine is aligned. My entire body feels healthy.

My symptoms came about fairly quickly following a horrendous highway speed motor scooter accident. I was run off the road by a car that did not stop after the accident. Result was a broken clavicle, shoulder blade, 3 ribs and a punctured lung. These injuries were surgically repaired but advanced arthritis has since set into my left hip and knuckles of both hands. After two MD's took X-rays and agreed that the arthritis could only be helped by hip replacement and pain killing medication I was urged by my daughter to visit Dr. Boeckman. She has been one of his satisfied patients. I did not have high expectations but thought it was worth a desperation try before considering a major surgery.

My symptoms are currently greatly improved following a series of treatments, which included adjustment and acupuncture. I doubt if I will ever be totally recovered to pre-accident condition but am improved to the point that I would not consider surgery at this time. I walk regularly and am back playing social tennis at a reasonable level. I have become a believer in the recuperative power of the human body with proper care and treatment. I believe I can continue to improve beyond my current condition. Regards, DGP/Burnsville, MN

I have been going to Dr. Boeckman for 15 years now. I started going to him, because I was in a car accident and was in a lot of pain. Through the adjustments and his knowledgeable advice, the pain went away and I was back to normal. I still continue to go regularly to see Dr. Boeckman, but now it is to relieve the pressure in my neck and shoulders from being on the computer all day. Dr. Boeckman and Jane, his wife, are very kind, caring and humble people. They both truly care about their patients. I would highly recommend coming to see them!

I work cradling the phone between my ear and shoulder as I am entering information on the computer. Several years ago I began having pain in my neck and shoulder and when it became hard to raise my arm, I knew I needed a chiropractor. I found Dr. Boeckman through my health care provider. I would describe his services as prompt, professional and friendly. He did focus on my individual needs and he suggested helpful exercises and ideas that would help me relax. Before Dr. Boeckman I was taking lots of aspirins and not getting much sleep.

At first, I did not think I would get rid of the pain entirely but hoped I would be able to use my arm without the constant pain. Well, after several sessions of traction, massage, adjustments and acupuncture, I have no problem using my arm nor do I have any pain. I have a stressful job and still visit Dr. Boeckman every 4-6 weeks to enjoy 30 minutes of quiet time to relax, have an adjustment, and talk about our grandchildren. He came to my rescue and his treatment process is excellent. CAR

After listening to my aches and pain stories, my hairdresser recommended I make an appointment to see Dr. Boeckman. My problem was frequent numbness and sharp stabbing pain on my left arm and leg. Since the onset of this terrible pain, I thought of the worst scenarios. Dr. Boeckman evaluated my condition, assuring me that he could help. My husband had insisted I go to my medical doctor. My M.D. told me I probably had a pinched nerve. Within a few weeks I felt on top of the world. I continued to go to Dr. Boeckman because I loved how I felt. One day he asked about my pain/numbness, I laughed and told him it was gone. I had not noticed it was gone, but I did note I felt great.

I have been a patient of Dr. Boeckman's for 31 years. He is the best Chiropractor I have ever had. My husband is retired from the military so I traveled and tried Chiropractors in California, Wisconsin and Minnesota. When I first came to see Dr. Boeckman I was 23 years old and I could not breath in or out through my nose for 2 years without nasal spray and I was very worried. Dr. Boeckman treated me and within 3 weeks I could breath again without nasal spray and he gave me good supplements that I still take to this day and I am still breathing clearly. He has helped me a lot with other things over the years, the worst ones being Strep Throat and Diarrhea. I have fortunately been a pretty healthy person. But I can't help but say that body adjustments are the best healer and good for your body. I am worth it. I don't mind paying for something that helps me live a comfortable and healthy life. My husband agrees. I have sent many friends and family to Dr. Boeckman and he is now helping me with my grandson and stepdaughter. I am so thankful. More later. Catnipper :)

Those boxes of dehumidifiers didn’t look like they were that heavy and I only needed to move the stack a few inches, but that was enough to throw out my back and cause severe sciatica. I shuffled into Dr. Boeckman’s office, inches at a time, bent into an L shape, in excruciating pain. Doubtful that he could help but desperate, I had come for my first chiropractic visit. He agreed this was bad. He could help, he said, if I would let him do acupuncture. I was needle phobic, but he promised I wouldn’t have to see them. That night the healing began.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Boeckman for over 20 years. He has helped me through whiplash, sciatica, and all those times when an adjustment put everything ‘back in place.’ Why haven’t I been tempted away in all that time? Dr. Boeckman treats his practice like a ministry; his goal is to alleviate pain and teach each patient how to better care for his or her body. With his wife Jane assisting him, their brand of chiropractic medicine is hands on. Dr. Boeckman administers acupuncture and adjustments; Jane assists with ultrasound, heat and massage. They are conscientious, caring, trustworthy, and dedicated. Dr. Boeckman knows my back better than I do. I trust him implicitly. When he advises a course of treatment, I have learned that there is great wisdom in his advice and my health is improved immediately if I follow it. Number one fan

Most people think chiropractors are only for backaches but there is so much more to it. Our family has been seeing Dr. Boeckman since 1984 being a hairdresser I started with neck problems and soon my husband went for his back. One of the kids had constant ear infections a few treatments and they stopped and got advice what to do when they were beginning so the never got to the pain part. The other child had a cough for days and one treatment and the coughing was over by evening. Both kids asked to go to see him when they had pain. We did not have to see the medical doctor very often.

I was in a car accident in 2005 and Dr. Boeckman did acupuncture on my neck, ribs, and knees for pain I could not even lay on the exam table at the time, and I believe it helped the ease the pain and speeded up the recovery. He can help heal many different aliments and will tell you went he cannot. We are a family of true believers in chiropractic treatments. sus

  • Chiropractic Practice
  • Chiropractic is a health care profession that works with your body's inherent healing potential. Through the use of joint manipulations, the chiropractic doctor assists the patient in health improvements. The benefits of chiropractic treatments include pain relief, relaxation, better sleep, improved physical function, enhanced circulation, and improved exercise ability. By exercising and sleeping better, you will multiply all chiropractic benefits. For a more formal description of what is chiropractic, follow this link to the American Chiropractic Association.

  • History of Chiropractic
  • Early writings from China and Greece in 2700 B.C. and 1500 B.C. mention spinal manipulation to ease low back pain.  Modern Chiropractic dates to 1895 when Daniel David Palmer codified spinal manipulations. Dr. Palmer culled together the anatomy, physiology, and philosophy of why spinal manipulation had such a powerful positive affect on how the body heals itself. Chiropractic is a recognized healing profession with a rich history.

  • Scope of Practice
  • Doctors of chiropractic frequently treat individuals with neuromusculoskeletal complaints, such as headaches, joint pain, neck pain, low back pain and sciatica. Chiropractors also treat patients with osteoarthritis, spinal disk conditions, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, sprains, and strains. However, the scope of conditions that Doctors of chiropractic manage or provide care for is not limited to neuromusculoskeletal disorders. Chiropractors have the training to treat a variety of conditions such as: allergies, asthma, digestive disorders, otitis media (nonsuppurative) and other disorders as new research is developed. The most common reasons why patients seek chiropractic care are for lower back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches, and injuries from auto accidents or on the job injuries. However, since chiropractic doctors are knowledgeable of all things related to health, we are able to manage and care for chronic health problems as well. Be sure to ask your chiropractic doctor how to help with your other health problems.
